Experience

Chiltern Cross Country

Come and experience Chiltern Cross Country (CXC), a brand new XC course in South Oxfordshire created by London 2012 course builder, Adrian Ditcham. Set in 30 acres in the heart of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are around 80 flagged fences ranging in height from 60cm to 100cm.

All year round

For those who want to kick on and practise riding at a competition pace, there is a flagged course laid out, while more technical combinations can be found in the centre of the complex alongside the water. Well drained soil and carefully nurtured pasture means CXC can stay open for most of the year.

Coloured squares mark the height of the jump with yellow for 60cm, red for 70cm, green for 80cm, blue for 90cm and grey for 100cm. For the safety of other riders, please jump with the red flag on your right. Fences that MUST ONLY be jumped in one direction are marked with a RED SQUARE on the red flag.

For all riders

Freshers Field is a separate area of 60cm fences for young horses or less experienced riders. It sits in one corner of the land with a range of inviting obstacles to help build confidence. There's everything you'll see in the rest of the course but to a smaller scale.

Make a day of it

If you feel like making an outing of your trip, there’s a viewing platform with picnic tables alongside the lorry park. You can even indulge in self service hot drinks and delicious home-made brownies and cookies.

Easy to find

Situated just off the A4074 between Reading and Wallingford, the new course is easily accessed without any nightmare manoeuvres or single track roads to contend with. Likewise there is plenty of parking for even the largest of lorries in a car park with a vast expanse of brand new tarmac.
